Shannon's Background

Shannon is a leading employment law attorney based in Manhattan Beach, California. She has practiced law for over 16 years. A deep concern and willingness to advocate for women permeates all areas of her life. In her daily legal work she is a voice for women who have faced discrimination because of race, gender, age, encountered sexual harassment, or were not promoted as a result of the "glass ceiling."

Excellent legal representation is not the only focus of her practice. She provides her clients with extra steps to connect them to new potential employers, therapists and other professionals to provide them with the tools to have a full and successful recovery from their experience.

Professionally, she is a member of California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), she volunteers as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court in hearing and resolving limited jurisdiction cases. Shannon educates attorneys and law firms on the Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession.

Shannon Foley is deeply involved in the role of women in the community. She serves on numerous boards of directors that provide assistance to women in many areas. She is the Co-Chair of the Women In Business Committee of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce. The annual program draws over 400 women every year to "Accelerate Your Business Ð Celebrate Your Soul." The annual conference's proceeds fund scholarships for college bound women, and The Wellness Community Post Breast Cancer Treatment Support Groups. She also serves as the co-chair for the monthly Women In Business lunches, she co-chairs an event honoring Women of Service for the Chamber. She is the 2003 Chair of the Legislative Committee and Installation Committee. In addition she serves on the Executive Board of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Shannon founded and runs Beach Net, a networking and business referral group, which benefits many businesses.

In another of her roles she is a member of the Board of Directors of The Los Angeles Women's Appointment Collaboration. A 12-year-old group of leading women in Los Angeles community whose mission is to educate and advance the appointment of women to positions serving on commissions at city, county, state and federal levels, corporate and nonprofit boards, and community involvement.

Shannon earned a B.S. from Arizona State University (Magna Cum Laude), and a Juris Doctorate (with Honors) from George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, D.C., where she interned for the Internal Revenue Service and participated in the Small Business Administration pro bono legal clinic for small businesses. She is admitted to practice law in both California and Nevada.

Shannon Foley is the proud mother of two young sons and resides with her husband and family in Manhattan Beach, California. She is an active volunteer in her children's sports and schools.
